Tipton County Jail Roster
The Tipton County Sheriff's Office links current inmates through the public jail roster route, and INjail Public Portal provides statewide county-jail search access. The Tipton county route uses FIPS 18159. It is a jail custody source, not a complete criminal court file. For filed charges, hearings, bond orders, pleas, or dispositions, use MyCase or contact the County Clerk.
The Tipton County Corrections Center is at the Sheriff's Office complex. The Jail Division page says the current facility opened in March 2020, has 36,000 square feet, and expanded general housing bed space to 84 from the former 27-bed facility. The county says the jail also has an elevated central control room, intake/book-in area under direct observation, and a housing unit for inmates with mental health issues described as the first of its kind in Indiana.
The INjail Public Portal is the statewide search source used for Tipton County inmate lookup.
The statewide portal is useful when custody may have started in another Indiana county, while the county route narrows the view to Tipton results.
Use the Tipton Inmate Roster
The Tipton County inmate search route is simple, but it requires at least one search value. A broad search may return many statewide results, so county filtering is helpful. A name-only search can produce false matches. Check age, booking date, county, release status, and detail-view fields before treating a result as the right person.
- Open INjail Public Portal or the Tipton County current inmates route.
- Enter last name, first name, birth date, county, booking range, or release range. At least one value is required.
- Use the county filter or county results route when the person should be in Tipton County custody.
- Review the results list for name, age, booked date, release date, county, and the view link.
- Open the profile or detail view for booking number, arrest data, case or charge details, bond, holds, and release status when shown.
- Call the jail at 765-675-7004 if the result is urgent, unclear, or missing from the public display.
The county-specific route is the direct Tipton roster path: INjail Tipton County current inmates.
Use it for a narrow Tipton County jail roster check before expanding to statewide custody or DOC records.
Tipton Inmate Search Fields
INjail's public search fields support both name searching and date-range searching. The research captured the portal fields from the official app components, including the error rule that at least one search value must be entered. County filtering helps separate Tipton County inmate records from other Indiana jail records.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Last Name | Text | No, but one value required | Maximum length 50; alpha-only component in the app. |
| First Name | Text | No | Use with last name to reduce false matches. |
| Birth Date | Date | No | Placeholder format is m/d/yyyy with a date picker. |
| County | Dropdown | No | Select Tipton or use the county route for Tipton results. |
| Booked Between | Date range | No | Preset ranges include today, last 7 days, last 30 days, this month, and last month. |
| Released Between | Date range | No | Useful when a person may have been released recently. |
| Search / Clear | Buttons | n/a | Search runs the query; Clear resets the form. |
Tipton Inmate Profile Fields
Public inmate profiles are informational and may not reflect the newest court status. The portal disclaimer notes that all people are presumed innocent until proven guilty and that records should be verified with official court records. Use jail records for custody and booking context. Use MyCase and the Clerk for filed charges, docket events, and final dispositions.

Tipton County Jail Facility
Tipton County has one jail facility identified in the research for county custody. The Jail Division is part of the Sheriff's Office and is open around the clock. It houses pretrial detainees, people ordered to serve county-level time, and certain Level 6 felony offenders who previously would have been housed by the Indiana Department of Correction.
Tipton County Corrections Center / Jail Division
2300 W Old SR 28
Tipton, IN 46072
765-675-7004
Open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
Jail command information in the county source names Captain Ray Sheppard as Jail Commander, Lt. Mitchell Johnson as Assistant Jail Commander, and Staff Sergeant Austin Blair. Specialty positions include S.E.R.T., Security Threat Group, and PREA team coordinators. Administrative staff contact should be used for jail process questions, not legal advice about charges.
Tipton County Booking Process
The county does not publish a full step-by-step booking procedure, but the Jail Division page identifies the intake/book-in area and central control observation. A typical local path is arrest by a sheriff, city, or state officer, transport to the Tipton County Corrections Center, intake and booking, classification or housing, bond or initial hearing, and a court case entry if the prosecutor files charges.
Booking and court records answer different questions. The jail roster can show who is in custody, booking date, release status, holds, and charge or bond fields. The Tipton Circuit Court record shows whether charges were filed, what hearings are set, what orders were entered, and what the case outcome is. A person may appear on a jail roster before the full court record is visible online.
Note: No official Tipton County Sheriff mobile app was located, so no app-only inmate lookup is supported by the research.
Tipton Jail Visitation Rules
The jail topic navigation lists inmate visitation rules, but a complete official visitation schedule was not located in the captured research. Do not rely on unofficial times for a visit. Call the jail before traveling, especially if a person is in intake, restrictive housing, lockdown, protective custody, or has a recent court transport.
| Visitation Topic | Official Detail Located | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Public visitation schedule | Complete schedule not located in accessible official text. | Call the jail at 765-675-7004 before planning a visit. |
| Attorney visitation | Specific public rules not located. | Confirm directly with the Jail Division. |

Mail and Inmate Contact
Traditional mail must be sent through the U.S. Postal Service and cannot be hand-delivered. The sender must provide a full name and address, with no initials or abbreviations. Mail is delivered between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m., Monday through Friday, except holidays. Pictures are scanned into the inmate digital profile, and books or magazines must be new and shipped from a publisher or warehouse. Hardback and sexually explicit materials are not allowed.
Jail staff may return mail at their discretion. Prohibited items include plans for crimes, weapons, drugs, alcohol, blackmail, extortion, escape, dangerous or unsanitary material, foreign substances such as crayon, marker, paint, glitter, glue, lipstick, stickers, tape, whiteout, staples, paper clips, postage stamps, stationery, food, perfume, nude photos, and hand-gesture photos. Inmates may use Combined Public Communication accounts for email, but emails are reviewed, not free, and a revocable privilege.
Telephones are available in general population blocks from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. except lockdown times. The research identifies Securus Technologies for phone service, with billing/service at 1-800-844-6591. Telephone privileges may be denied at staff discretion and are not available for restrictive housing and lockdown units.
Commissary and Inmate Funds
Tipton County Jail does not allow inmates to keep cash. Funds go into an inmate account used for commissary purchases such as personal hygiene items, food, clothing, and writing materials. Inmates on disciplinary lockdown and diabetic inmates have commissary restrictions. Orders are placed on Wednesday and delivered Thursday, so money must be deposited by 5 p.m. Tuesday for that week's commissary order.
| Deposit Method | Details |
|---|---|
| Online | Use JailATM deposits. |
| Money orders may be mailed to the jail in care of the inmate. Cash and checks are not accepted through mail. | |
| Lobby kiosk | Cash may be brought to the jail lobby and deposited using the kiosk. |
Other inmate services documented by the jail include three daily meals, religious services, volunteer ministers, chaplaincy counseling as time allows, Thinking for a Change substance-abuse counseling, medical and dental access, and rules for outside clothing before a scheduled jury trial.
Beyond Tipton County Custody
County jail custody is not the same as state prison custody. Once a person leaves county jail for an Indiana Department of Correction facility, use the Indiana DOC inmate search. For victim notification, use Indiana SAVIN/VINELink. For registry searches, use the Indiana Sex and Violent Offender Registry.
For charges, bond orders, hearing dates, and case outcomes, use MyCase or contact the County Clerk. The jail can answer custody questions, but court records are the source for the official criminal case file after charges are filed.
